Breaking The Ice On Your First Date
Your prince charming suddenly comes up to you and asks you
out. This is a chance of a lifetime, so of course you say yes.
But once you're on the date, things are a little awkward...
You notice that your prince charming seems quite nervous and
looks like he might faint.
The two of you end up having short bits of discussion between
long silent pauses.
Dates like this might just need a little jump-start...
Usually the first date involves having lunch or dinner together,
and it's important to share conversation, not just a meal.
Here are some conversation starters:
* Suggest activities that involve fun and adventure for your
next date, if there is one. This type of conversation will allow
you both to talk about the types of activities you enjoy, so
you're learning about each other.
* Discuss where you went to school. Maybe you're both old high
school or college sports rivals. Or perhaps you will discover
that you have friends or aquaintances in common - "Remember the
day so and so wrecked his brand new car and got grounded for a year?"
* Talk about your plans for the future. (Not marriage and family!)
If you expect to make it big in the company you work for, say so.
Or if your current job is just a stopover to pay the bills until
your dream job offer comes along, or until you save enough money
to start your own company, let him or her know this.
* Tell him or her places you'd like to visit at some point.
These are all "safe" topics to talk about that will loosen things
up and remove any awkwardness.
And before you know it, your prince charming may turn into your
knight in shining armor.
